As women, it’s a common experience for us to be “rewarded” for doing a good job by being handed even more work and responsibilities at work and at home.
As a Director of an outpatient multi-specialty clinic, I had progressively been given responsibility for overseeing 4-5 managers, 90 physicians, and up to 200 staff.
I was doing “good work,” and on the outside, my life looked full, and I have a great family! My husband traveled for work almost every week. My sons and I held the fort down while he was gone.
I was so burned out and anxious that couldn’t get out of bed. Something needed to change.

In 2014, I hired a life coach who helped me navigate my way with hypnotism and homework. This proved to be not only something that saved my sanity but helped me see that we don’t automatically have the tools we need to survive as healthy and happy humans!
I retired with 21 years of service to my organization in October 2020. I am truly grateful that my wellness journey helped me learn how to better manage stress, anxiety, and burnout during the latter part of my career!
My wellness journey continues with a concentration on reading books and attending webinars, seminars, and online courses related to health, wellness, meditation, and mindfulness training. In 2019, I hired a registered dietician wellness coach. She changed the trajectory of my life to be on a more empathic and evolving self-discovery path that I am still following.
